This week (25)

The week has brought windy and cool weather, with showers of rain and thunder. The Ministry gardener reports that still rescues are being made from the Ministry cellar: 1 toad to the ministry pond during the week. The Minister/President has been stacking up supplies the whole week for Midsummer.

In the end of the week (thursday), the day before Midsummer Eve* it suddenly cleared up and a sunny 25 degree warm day surprised us all. But that was only to be worsened on friday, the big day of the year (Midsummer Eve is probably bigger than Christmas). The only day when sweden expect it to be sunny and warm (due to the outdoor festivities and outdoor eating that always occure on Midsummer Eve). But as often on a swedish summer, those hopes where dashed.

The Ministry janitor reports that a heep of sun panels has arrived. They will be installed within shortly and will thus take care of a great deal of the Ministry’s use of hot water and heating during the summer. The janitor also reporst that big water barrels has arrived that will for example serve as storage tanks for rain water. Some firewood has also arrived during the week, for the upcoming winters needs. It’s a bit depressing but we need to think ahead. The janitor has also a fantasic report regarding a video-machine that miraculosly resurrected from the dead. While being unplugged through a thunder it was dead when plugged in again. For several days it was mourned over. It was a very fine Hifi stereo video. In another thunder it was unplugged again. And when plugged back again into the grid, it suddenly resurrected! It’s now reported back to it’s normal manners and are functional nicely. This is a miracle since it was totally dead and nothing could revive it. It’s almost biblical in a sense… We now are thinking of testing it to see if it can walk on water!

The ministry chef reports cupious amounts of chutney and saft (lemonade) have been cooked and boiled due to an unexpected deep-freezer emergency!

The Ministry baby crow that we told about is still jumping around the Ministry farm but can now fly shorter trips. It has been reported on top of a 3 meter high hedge and are making progress. The parents are still feeding it and and are never far away from their little toddler.

*) Midsummer Eve in Sweden is to a great extent a fantastic national romantic dream of “the swedish summers superior beauty “, combined with a exaggerated intake of alcoholic beverage… Police on duty are probably the only ones that are happy about a “less good weather” on this day since it cools off all the hotheads on this night that usually go beserk on this day (and night).
