PRESSRELEASE - Project Boardwalk
Eslöv By The Sea - Project Boardwalk
In cooperation with the Culture School in Eslöv
When Fredrik Axwik in 2004/2005 started to investigate the unknown history of his birth-town (Eslöv) no one could anticipate the flabbergasting facts that would be revealed. The so called “most boring town of Sweden” proved in fact to be a surprise! Who knew that it once was the cultural hub around which all revolved! In fact Eslöv was revealed as the cradle for the “western” culture.
The bikini was invented in Eslöv. As was the baguettes, fashion, beach volley and so on. The list goes on. The now long gone beaches of Eslöv also had a boardwalk, the worlds first! This particular culture has spread around the globe, to Asia, to Europe and the Mediterranean, and even to the new world! Atlantic City for one. Not a beach in the world with some self esteem would like to be without a Boardwalk…
The Boardwalk of Eslöv will now be recreated by the artist who revealed the unknown history of his hometown. He will be assisted by the pupils at Culture School of Eslöv. Opening night on Friday September 12, 20.00 - 21.00 outside “Medborgarhuset” at Södergatan in Eslöv.
Thursday September 11 there will be a press conference at 15:00 (local time)
