Rusk gruel
The cold weather lately (10 below) and the snow has made the Minister hungry for something warming in the morning. Growing up we used to have something we called rusk gruel. In the old days it was made in a pan on the stove, but nowadays rusk gruel (swe. “skorp-välling”) is easiest made in the new invention micro-wave oven. When the Minister was a kid we always referred to it as angel-food (swe. “änglamat”) most probably because it was so good, it was fit for angels…
To make a delicious rusk gruel use rusks of your choice - wheat rusks is very good. Crumble 6-7 rusks in a small bowl of sort and fill up with milk to your liking, add a put of your favorite butter or margarine and run it in a microwave oven for 2-3 minutes (on full effect). Add some sugar on the top. Voila! A steaming hot meat fit for an angel!
