More new art-land!

Two dour, funny middle-aged artists from Stockholm, Carl Michael von Hausswolff (51) and Leif Elggren (56) have been reported claiming a self-declared domain, Isola San Michele. It’s Venice’s most famous cemetery, island of the dead, established by Napoleon.

They declared themselves kings in 1992 since they was jealous of the Swedish King. They wanted their own country, and they claim they have one - made up completely of the borders between other countries. (The idea probably sneaked upon the two old drinking-buddies after a exceptionally wet evening…)

In many cases their vast, far-flung territories can be measured only in conceptual terms. They also claim that everyone who is dead is automatically a citizen of their country, and that no one has complained yet.
