This week starts with a Flashback about last weeks efforts with the much talked about ancient Pier, that once was situated in Eslöv by the Sea.

Piren är som sagt rekonstruerad och finns även att läsa om i tidningen! Skånska Dagbladet var på plats och rapporterade om bygget.

Fredagen den 9 september, på Eslövs Kulturnatt, kommer Konstnären Fredrik Axwik tillsammans med elever och Konstlärare från Kulturskolan i Eslöv att visa upp en rekonstruktion av den en gång fantastiska och berömda Piren som låg vid havet som försvann. Eleverna kommer under veckan att assistera Konstnären i uppförandet av Piren ur Eslövs svunna historia. Byggdagar är onsdag och torsdag (c:a kl 15-19).
 
Piren kommer att byggas upp i ungefär skala 1:5 - Piren kommer att innehålla tivoli och allehanda festliga arrangemang på fredag 9 september när vi öppnar och inviger med en Vernissage kl 19.
 
Piren
I mitten av 1800-talet byggdes i Eslöv det stora kallbadhuset Pärlan, med ett högt hopptorn. Anläggningen var belägen nere vid stranden i direkt anslutning till Spången (den trälagda strandpromenaden). Därmed kunde allmänheten och publik gå torrskodd och utan att få sand i skorna vid olika tävlingar.
 
Badanläggningen hade också en långsmal förlängning ut i havet, en stor Pir, som avslutades med ett stort trädäck vilket användes för rekreation, solbad och vid tävlingar som utsiktsplats för publiken. (Denna byggstil tog en engelsk sommargäst med sig hem till England där han anlade en liknande byggnation utanför Blackpool, vilken sedan blivit väldigt känt i hela England och i andra stora delar av världen).

Konstforskningsprojektet ARKIV började sin undersökning 2005 och haft ett flertal utställningar och interventioner sedan dess. Konstprojektet har till och med letat sig utanför Skånes gränser, till Kanada, där det förevisades under en föreläsningsturné 2007. ARKIV-projektet planerades från början i sex delar, men den femte utställningsdelen i projektet var egentligen den nionde. Piren är dessutom den tionde framställningen ur ARKIV-projektet - med underrubriken Eslöv By The Sea.

Let’s walk the plank… a little flashback from the project Boardwalk in Eslöv.

A little flashback to the beginning of the year of 2010. For three months the fifth part of the art research project ARCHIVE was running at the Eslöv Town Museum. The whole project is a research into the unknown parts of the little towns unknown history, as well as the artists… ARCHIVE has the subtitle “Eslöv By The Sea” and the fifth part concentrated on Philosophy & Religion and was named “Spinoza Never Made It To Eslöv”.

On Sunday February 28 the ongoing exhibition “ARCHIVE V - Spinoza Never Made it to Eslöv” will end. This is the weekend they didn’t play golf, it is the last chance to see the exhibition, and we are going out with a bang! It is a little bit like “Deliverance” meets Demolition Derby. The last day of the exhibition will be celebrated with a public disassembly! Take the chance to experience the exhibition on the last day! We are open 13-16 but we will start taking down the exhibition during this time! If you arrive late, you will miss it. Take the chance to see it before it’s gone! Skip Church, the TV-sofa or the Shopping and be able to tell your grandchildren what happened that weekend in early 2010 - that Sunday when we didn’t play golf…

We have earlier described the snow situation at the Ministry as Bordering to Insanity. We are now passed that stage and are nearing, if not already arrived at Cabin Fever *. Every other day there is another blizzard that keeps sending up snowdrifts to never before seen height. And at the same time we hear about the snow shortage in OS-city Vancouver… This adds to the burden one could say. As this is written Our Hero has just returned from yet a battle against the natures evil forces (second time in the last 48 hrs). The struggling during the week includes a break-down of the tractor, which was timely fixed by the local garage just in time for the second snowstorm… They say another one is heading this way…

On another note. during the week the ongoing exhibition was visited by a little group that got a guided tour by yours truly. A welcomed break from the treadmill. The coming week is the last week for the exhibition. If you don’t want to miss it, take the chance to go see it this coming week! *) Cabin fever is an idiomatic term for a claustrophobic reaction that takes place when a person or group is isolated and/or shut in, in a small space, with nothing to do, for an extended period (as in a simple country vacation cottage during a long rain or snow). Symptoms include restlessness, irritability, forgetfulness, laughter, and excessive sleeping, distrust of anyone they are with, and an urge to go outside even in the (less miserable) rain, snow or dark.
