EBS V

fredag, september 18th, 2009

Preparations and research are being done for the fifth part of the art-project ARCHIVE - Eslöv By The Sea. Part V is about Eslöv and the religion, or actually Eslöv and the philosophy. Religion and philosophy is interconnected and we can’t consider the one without considering the other. The subtitle for the fifth part is “Spinoza never made it to Eslöv”. More stunning finds from the unknown history of Eslöv will be presented, as in the previous exhibition. Part V will be exhibited in the magnificent Eslöv Town Museum and the opening night is planned for November 28. More about this later.

The Eiffel-Tower in Eslöv

Todays documentation flashback is a new gallery from the ARCHIVE-project. In 2007 the fourth part of the ARCHIVE Project was presented on the Eslöv Biennale. ARCHIVE IV was a whole new exhibition in the project containing artefact’s/ objects.

After telling the story about how people during the 1700’s and 1800’s used to travel to their contemporary cultural pinnacle, to Eslöv. ARCHIVE IV concentrated on telling the story of the Eslöv globetrotters that roamed the known world and spreading the Eslöv culture to more or less every corner of the globe. Once again did the research further strengthen the thesis that Eslöv once was the Cultural Capital of the Western world; that Eslöv once was the cultural cradle for the modern Western civilization that we know today.

Todays documentation flashback is a new gallery from the ARCHIVE-project. In 2008 a 75 meters long foot-bridge was built throuhg a park in the middle of Eslöv. It was a free-standing sequel to the project about “Eslöv By The Sea”. The foot-bridge was built during a couple of days with good assisting help from the art-students at “Eslöv Culture School”. All timber was sponsored by a local company; Merab.

During the winter part 5 of the ARCHIVE project has started it’s preparation and at the moment the Minister is busy doing research-work in the old archives for a new exhibition. When it’s time for an account it is time for a thorough analysis of the historic records again. The ARCHIVE project has been the true story about the unknown past of Eslöv. The subtitle has also been “Eslöv By The Sea” from the times when the little town was a terrific summer resort.

The project was planned in 6 parts but so far there has been 3 different exhibitions (part 5 will be the 4th exhibition in the project). There has also been 3 different installations, 1 performance and 1 musical account and DVD-production so far. So far there has been at least 8 parts of the planned 6-part project.

A night at the Boardwalk

fredag, oktober 17th, 2008

You have got a few looks of the Boardwalk in daylight before here and here. Here’s finally the look and feel of the nocturnal cultural event when it first was opened for the public. The premier night was filled with people, and in the video you can experience the dark September evening with the whole Project Boardwalk in effect, with performers in robes and beach gears. The video needs to be seen in a dark room, in that case you might catch a glimpse of sun worshippers and visitors passing by in the dark of the night. Go on, take a walk through the night.

Boardwalk Video II

Yet another video from Project Beachlife that now is up on YouTube. A slightly different version and with a special soundtrack. Enjoy the now missing Boardwalk of Eslöv by The Sea. Fortunately it’s documented and can be viewed when ever you want. Videofootage courtesy of Ministry of Art & Jump Archive.

The Boardwalk of Eslöv By The Sea

fredag, oktober 10th, 2008

The project BEACHLIFE in Eslöv in September was a big hit. Here’s a few pictures from the cultural evening when the Boardwalk had it’s premiers night. Hundreds and thousands of people visited and walked across the boardwalk during the afternoon and night. The Boardwalk was a recreation of the famous Boardswalk of Eslöv By The Sea.

And here’s a little video footage from the Boardwalk, as if you were there yourself…

Strandliv i Kulturnatten

onsdag, september 17th, 2008

Fler fick knappt plats i området…

Project Boardwalk

fredag, september 12th, 2008

The Big project Boardwalk in Eslöv is ready for Opening Night! 0.075 kilometers of boards have been nailed together with the aid of 50-60 pupils over 4 days. It’s been a hard and sometimes hectic work. But it turned out nicely. Here’s a couple of early pictures before it was absolutely done. Tonight the Grand Opening is due with pitch torch and much more. More about this later!

Here’s the lower entrance, leading onto the Boardwalk that snakes through the park. Note the street signs and other details. The portal got an almost Tipi-like feature…

Here’s the upper entrance on the other side of the park. Note the Eslöv-Meteor to the right. The park is now truly a sculpture park, maybe Eslöv’s first.
